Why aren't Hispanics and Middle Easterners represented racially in the World Fact Book of the CIA? Going on the CIA website and checking the world fact book about the USA's demographics was shocking to find hispanics and middle eastern people totally absent from the demographics. They say hispanics have no racial value, and they can be of any race. The fact is most Hispanics are either Mestizo, White, Amerindian, or Black...so why don;t they represents this? Middle Eastern Americans are totally absent, and i have no idea why. Does anyone know?? I feel ignored as a Hispanic American to live in the world's most historically and ethnically diverse country and not have a group in which the country loves to separate the people into.
The world is living on credit... but from who? this is the link to the CIA WORLD FACT BOOK showing the debt in all countries.. isn't it amazing? the richer, the more debt... doesn't make much sense, or does it? top 5 are US, UK, Germany, France and Italy... https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2079rank.html
So...now only 1 billion people in the world are Atheist? According to the CIA world fact book, only 2.36% of the world is Atheist WAY(WAY!!!!) below 1 billion! Take 6.5 billion as the world population, 2.36% is only 153,400,000 people....a little less than 1 billion, don't you think? This just gives more proof to me, no offense to the intelligent, that some people have NO clue what they're talking about, even if they claim to be free thinking and logical... agree/disagree? You're right, they said "atheist/agnostic" But still, non-religion and atheists are in different categories on there. To Spirit Wanderer...yeah, when it was starting out there were a lot less Christians....but Atheism isn't JUST starting...it's been around for thousands of years too. The "FACTS" Come from the census either you or your parents do every 10 years...and not just from the US census. superwow....well, if that what you think I mean...than think that, no matter what I say it wont change your mind.
World fact book says atheists make up 4% of the population.? https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/us.html did anyone else think they were alot bigger?it surprised me. this is u.s. only by the way.im searching for world numbers. https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/xx.html on the world scale: Christians 33.32% (of which Roman Catholics 16.99%, Protestants 5.78%, Orthodox 3.53%, Anglicans 1.25%), Muslims 21.01%, Hindus 13.26%, Buddhists 5.84%, Sikhs 0.35%, Jews 0.23%, Baha'is 0.12%, other religions 11.78%, non-religious 11.77%, atheists 2.32% (2007 est.)
Is this the best answer to "Should 18 to 30 year olds be required to go into the military? First, lets review what we agree on. 1) We want the US to be as strong as it can be in the world, 2) We want the US military as strong as it can be to support US interests throughout the world, 3) We want as many people as possible to CONTRIBUTE to the strength of the US military by being in active service 4) We want to supply those troops with the best available hardware to maximize their fighting strength So, let's agree to this, because what I'm about to say next, flows from these goals, based on actual knowledge; First, The United States has 298 million people, according to the CIA World Fact Book, and of those approximately 54.6 million males and 54.7 million females are fit for military service. This is age 17 through 49 - not 18 through 30 that you suggest. If we pick those people 18 through 30 - we have a total population of around 90 million people total, half male half female, not the 134 million reported by the CIA. So, your proposal reduces the total. There are 4.18 million US citizens reaching military age anually. Why is this important? That's how many kids can get killed each year and allow the US to fight indefinitely at this rate. Since death rates are about 1 in 20 in battle, this means that the US could field about 83 million people in combat and sustain it biologically. Even so, that's less than the number you think we should have in arms right now! The US military $440 billion each year supporting 1.5 million active troops. To support 90 million troops would require at least 60 times this amount, or $26,400 billion! Since the US economy is $12,700 billion, and the US budget couldn't support it. Actually the $440 billion already spent is 3.7% of the US budget, and about 50% of the DISCRETIONARY budget. So, we could double the military to about 3 million from the current 1.5 million, and not cut into welfare and other non-discretionary spending. (We still need police schools and the like) But we'd have to raise taxes to field even more troops! Which is possible, but how much? Well, there's a thing called the Schumpeter Limit - which Ronald Reagan's advisors were well aware of. IF the government spends money, it MUST take it out of the private sector, which REDUCES wealth and makes the US WEAKER! So, that's a box we can't get around really, by the laws of economics. The Russians tried to get around this limit, and it killed their economy and ruined them as a great nation. We'd be fools if we didn't pay attention. So, its unlikely that we could ever usefully put more than 7 million people in the field on economic grounds. The best ages for fighters are generally speaking between 18 and 25. Why? Because under 18 and over 25 physical and mental abilities are less than at this age, and a fighting person outside this age range actually REDUCES fighting ability for a group. Furthermore, humans have a biological dimorphism. Males are bigger and stronger and more agressive than females -on a biological level. This is accentuated by social conditioning. Now, I've known some females who could kick some males asses, and win, but if we select for size, strength, and agressiveness, be they male or female, we will end up with about 30% of the people who are available by age - and we can even extend that a little if we mentally and physically test those that are +/- 3 years around our 18 to 25 year old filter - based on ability - even so, we're not going to get more than 15 million people in the armed services and maintain tip top fighting - and that's more than DOUBLE what we can support given economic constraints. Furthermore, not all people are mentally and physically fit to fight. Requiring the military to take ALL folks, in any age group, therefore REDUCES our fighting ability by requiring the military deal with those of less ability. Also, not all people are MOTIVATED to fight, and so, are unfit for this reason. A person who is mustered into service and not motivated to be there, can easily become a HUGE liability to a fighting force! Ever hear of FRAGGING? This was a problem in Vietnam BECAUSE there were so many people there against their will. We don't want that for our present military force. Finally, as a free society our military MUST live within that society as a good citizen. The military plays an essential role in all societies, including ours freedom loving society. For this they should be honored. But they must also be good citizens. This means that the US military more than others, is strongly affected by public perception and public opinions. And, conscription creates a strong reaction in a significant minority of folks, and that minority can grow to a majority if the US is engaged in a long conflict, with large numbers of young people dead and injured, who didn't want to be there in the first place, and are now mourned or supported by their families back at home who also didn't want them there. We learned all this in Vietnam, when there were HUGE protests against the war. Not at the outset, after the Gulf of Tonkin, but after a few years of grinding war with no end in sight. So, BECAUSE we want the best fighting force possible, we should first and foremost MAKE IT DIFFICULT to become a member of it. Secondly, we should only take the BEST and make service in our armed forces not a requirement, BUT AN HONOR that only a very few are selected to fulfill. And then, we SHOULD SPARE NO EXPENSE in training and outfitting those who fight on our behalf. Finally, we should publicly promote and glorify our fighting force so that ALL WANT TO APPLY - BUT FEW ARE SELECTED! This is how we get the best fighting force possible. Now, there's another point to consider. The USA exists in a world of 271 nations, possessions, and independent territories. Those nations produce over $47,500 billion in wealth, against the USA's $12,100 billion in wealth. Those nations have 6,227 million people compared to the USA's 298 million people. Combined these nations could field over 3,000 million people against the USA, and each year they could afford to lose somethin like 80 million of their fighting youth in combat! Of course, like the USA, they're more constrained by the cost of training and weapons, but generally speaking the cost of weapons for most of the rest of the world's armies navies and air forces are about 1/3 the cost of US materiel. Why? Because the US fighting equipment is the best, and gives us far more than 3x the advantage in the field. Even so, if more than about 20% of the world's population decided to attack the US, and the US had no allies to back it up, the US would quickly succumb to such an attack - EVEN IF EVERY SINGLE US CITIZEN COULD BE BROUGHT TO FIGHTING READINESS. This is why the US State Department and the US Intelligence community and the US economy are so important for the continued dominance of the US in the world. And it also provides an important lesson - WE SHOULD PICK OUR FIGHTS CAREFULLY, and WE SHOULD WHENEVER POSSIBLE, WORK WITH ALLIES IN ANY CONFLICT as George Bush Senior did in the first Gulf War. This isn't weakness, because the US in terms of numbers is fundamentally weak, we are less than 5% of the world's population, but consume over 25% of its resources. That's the power of free enterprise! But it puts us at a disadvantage in military numbers. So, we must adopt policies that use use our military to best effect by picking our spots! This is best achieved through careful analysis of extensive intelligence gathered from around the world, and using statecraft first. Its difficult, its complex, but its the only way we can stay on top in a complicated and big and powerful world. We're the most powerful nation in history. We can do more for our military. Filling their ranks with unmotivated, unintelligent, and poorly trained and supplied and paid troops - is not one of those things we need to do. We could usefully double our force levels. We could usefully quadruple our expenditures. We could promote the military so that everyone of a fighting age applies. But we also should pick the very best, and spend considerable effort training and motivating them to BE the best, and then outfit them WITH the best equipment and support possible. This is the MOST we can do. Conscripting 90 million people would create a HUGE nightmare for the military and actually reduce our fighting effectiveness, especially at today's level of funding. Fielding more than 3 million soldiers would sink our economy, and that would reduce our fighting effectiveness. So, your question promotes a foolish notion that actually reduces our fighting effectiveness. Why is Israel in a constant state of war and or occupation of other nations ? The gazza strip is outside thier national border Yet they seem to always be at war or occupying the place There seems to be constant war with all of it's nieghbors Are they all insane Arabs or does Israel share some of the blame for this I thought for a while the Gazza strip might belong to Israel but according to the CIA world fact book it does not https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/gz.html
how are ideas spread in pakistan? I have an important social studies project, and I have to research Pakistan. I tried using just about every search engine on the internet, even the CIA World Fact Book! But I can't find this one question! Can anyone help?

Is it better to have a single entity like the Crown represent the State ? What is the State ? It is the interests of the owners of the nation --- which is not now nor has it ever been the people - Example taken from the CIA world fact book US area total: 9,826,630 sq km land: 9,161,923 sq km water: 664,707 sq km note: includes only the 50 states and District of Columbia https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/us.html ---------------------- You don't own that --- the State does - the rich who have the banks the industrial military complex and prison complex along with the media outlets -- That is your State in the US ---- not the people - no where are the people and the State the same entity In the British Commonwealth there are a lot of rich persons who own stuff - and they are the State --- under one very powerful Queen who in her name owns it all --- The head of State -- aka owner -------------------- The idea of the House of Commons was the representation of the Commoner - and the upper chamber (Senate in Canada) was the presence of the Crowns representatives - who represented the interests of the State - not the people ------------------------ What has happened in the US is an illusion - that the President the Congress and the Senate represent the people -- they do not - they represent the State to the people ------------------ There is no representation of the people in any modern democracy politicians only represent the will of the State to the people who are governed ---------------- Is it therefore better to have the State and the people clearly defined as it must be in a Monarchy - is the reality a little clearer for the masses that way Or is the deception of the US the right way to go and allow the people a fantasy Oh it was not meant to be that way and the founding fathers thought they could break up the power of the State by creating checks and balances multiple houses and a President -- In fact it made it easier to buy the weakened houses and the President - The ideals of the US founders - have come to a crashing end - Is it worth trying the American experiment again or simply to have one person represent the State in the form of a Queen such as Elizabeth the second ? Hawkeye I did not mean to say or imply that the US as a State had failed I meant to say that the ideals of the founding fathers has come to a crashing end - and realitively soon after they died The US as a "State" is very powerful indeed The ideals of the beginning are what I am questioning Mr Uh huh Well I can certainly tell you there are some serious draw backs and pluses to having a monarchy So then the question becomes How to keep the plus and get rid of the draw backs ? ----------- I am not sure where I stand on the issue - Keep the Queen she is the known person who has been "the State" for centuries No - try something similar to the Americans but with the utmost understanding that a "State" -- will as it must appear and it must be dealt with as a separate entity from "the will and interests of the people " Sam N You make the obvious mistake Do not under estimate the power of the Crown just because it is not entrenched in a document It works as all agents of the State do Quietly and with a stealth that is quite incredible - suggestions are made - orders are not given - things moved in and out of position - for you against you The appearance of choice is created managed and then recreated - you end up where you were meant to be choosing to do those things which suit the State The Queen though symbolic would have you believe it is a relic of the past - drawn out of a cartoon - it moves unseen into the lives of many when it feels the need - I think this is where the Americans fall down - they assume too much of what they are told - power is almost never seen - Please do not be offended by that. I am impressed by the ideals - I just wish to impress upon you the prowess of both your unseen State and ours
Why are people so ignorant about China? I am a Chinese that live in Beijing and I notice that a lot of people in website knows NOTHING about how China is today yet they are writeing long artcles about us. The China in their imagination is a mixture of early James Bond movies, CIA world fact book is the 60s' and Tibet separatist propaganda. China today is no longer some kind of Stalin police state, it is ture that our human rights record is not great (in fact there are lots of room for improvement), but things are getting better now, after all I can come to this website post and answer questions, but people are still saying that my goverment block all outside information which is not ture! And some other people are saying that my goverment is planing to conquer the world, which is also not ture. It is a fact that my goverment is building up our military strength but we are just doing it out of our own protection. And China don't even have a aircraft carrier or a base out side of our border and US have them.
Will Russia or China defend Iran as both get a lot of oil from Iran ? Russia has been selling military goods to Iran - A billion dollars worh or so over the past couple of years Iran has apprently had some trouble paying thisThere is a pipline from Iran to Russia (see - the CIA world fact book for what they import vs export) China is also buying oil from Iran * China owns the majority of the US debt - having a major oil supply cut off due to bombing by the US who increaselingly they see as a dead beat who can't pay off it's debts - is not going to fare well A lot of people said that England would not defend Poland Why should I not believe given the warnings of catastophe from both Russia and China should I not believe they will denfend Iran who supplies oil to both ecomomies ? Is the US government thinking they can take on Iran the Russian's and the Chinese ?Beat the Chinese and the debt os gone Beat the Russians and the middle east is solely the property of the US and take out Iran so as to effectively rule the world ? Lets face it if the US takes over or blows up Iran Military strikes that reduce or destroy the oil out put - They control 100% the economy of both Russia and China Russia and China have 2 choices - Fight - Or don't fight and let the US rule the world completely by control of the oil Given that doesn't it seem likely that Russia and China will fight? Wouldn't you ? flamingo I am not advocating for or against anything - I am trying to do a simple 2 +2 thing in the foriegn agenda market Taken from CIA world act book Russia Oil - consumption: 2.5 million bbl/day (2005 est.) Oil - exports: 7 million bbl/day (2005) Oil - imports: 100,000 bbl/day (2005) Oil - proved reserves: 74.4 billion bbl (2005 est
If USA has highest debt, then what are the countries that giving him debt? Why are some people so ignorant about China? I am a Chinese that live in Beijing and by comeing to websites like Yahoo! Answers I am shock as for how some people know NOTHING about China yet act like an expert when it comes to questions about us.The China in their imagination is a mixture of early James Bond movies, CIA world fact book is the 60s' and Tibet separatist propaganda. Some of them don't even know that China is now under a free market econmy and still think we are useing a planned econmy. But the most ridiculous ones I have seen so far is this one: 'In China everyone are forced to wear the same color of clothes'. Where on earth did they get that from? It is not ture and the fact is in China you can wear anything you want! I understand that China did lots of bad things in the past like the 1989 Tiananmen Square incident and the Great Leap Forward. BUT... if you look closely, China is not the only nation that did atrocities. The US for one had the Kent State shootings in the 1970s' and students was killed. Continue...
Some people are saying that China is using slaves the make thing, which is also not true. People working in the manufacturing industry in China do so willingly. No one is forced to work in factories, if you don't like your job you can quit any time you want. In fact these jobs are very competitive. People are lining up for hours just to get the job! Also, when they are saying that we treat our workers poorly. It is no true. In fact the ministry of Labor is REQUIRED to provide health insurance to all the employees and many factory locations have health facilities on site. Factory workers can go to their local health center, sit in a chair and receive anti-biotics intreveniously. So what kind of ‘slavery’ is this? Continue...
One user (I am not naming anyone here) claimed that the trade between China and the US only helped a small amount of people. But if that person look at some real data, he will know that the amount of people living under the poverty line dropped from 70% in the year 1980 to less then 10% in the year 2003. Don’t tell me this has nothing to do with trading. Continue...
As for Tibet, well…lets put it this way: America exist because of imperialism & colonialism. Europeans took control of North America only 300 years ago and killed of most of the native people. Also, the US didn’t control Hawaii for a long time, but in just a few decades they have the sovereign right of Hawaii and no one talks about it anymore. So what is the big different between China and America? In case they didn’t notices: The winners, not the losers, write history. That speaks it all. If Tibet were not part of China, then California, New Mexico, etc, would be part of Mexico instead of U.S.A.
If Tibet were not part of China, then Quebec would be an independent country instead of part of Canada. Continue...
I know China's done a lot of bad things in Tibet, but the government has recognized that and they're trying to change now. China's been pouring loads of money into trying to improve living conditions in Tibet. The facts are there. The literacy rate is up, more kids are going to school, etc. And plus, before China took over Tibet, it was a fundamentalist police state. And 90% of the population was feudal serfs--nothing more than slaves. This is an open question to everyone with diffent point of views. But please respect yourself when answering.
P.S. To prove that I really live in Beijing, the headline of China Daily(the national English newspaper) on march 27, 2007 was ‘Presidents promote partnership’. This is to aerocentral01, I don't want to be rude but lets put it this way: It is amuseing to read your answer. Funny, as you have said you have never even been to China. So, someone that never been to China is now saying someone that is liveing there to be lieing... Strange. The fact is, there are very few state owned companies right now. Almost everthing here are own by private enterprises from all over the world. There are KFCs, video game centers, banks and Dominos Pizzas. There is even a stock exchange in Shanghai! So what kind of planned econmy is this? Also, when you said we should stops building the world's largest air force, let me ask you this: The US has mess up Iraq, gave Taiwan weponds and did nothing about Japan lieing about history but nothing is wrong about that. Yet when China is protecting her own people and you think it is wrong. What kind of speech is this?
What is the wealthiest city in CA? read inside? I need facts not opinion. An opinion: "LA's gotta be the richest cuz all the stars are there and there's lot of entertainment and food." NO! What are development indicators? I need help with my geography homework, which is basically "research development indicators" possibly using the CIA world fact book. However i found no help using this. Can anybody tell me anything about development indicators and any useful websites with info? thanks :) x
Why do some Mexicans think of themselves as being white? I'm Mexican, my family is from Jalisco and northern parts of Mexico. There are many light colored Mexicans there. However, I know very well that most Mexicans are Mestizo. The CIA World Fact Book even says that 60% of Mexico is Mestizo. Why don't some Mexicans except the fact that we aren't pure white people. Some of us may look light colored but it doesn't automatically make us white. The conquistadors did not bring families with them like the pilgrims. It was just nothing but Spanish men having realtionships with Indians. But there are white people in Mexico, don't get me wrong. Just that there aren't very many. According to the CIA World Fact Book it's 9%. So to my paisanos who are in denial and don't have proof of having a pure white family deal with it. Be happy with who we are. Heres an example of a Mexican who calls himself and the majority of Mexico white. He puts down Mexican Americans. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AtTvZuEQdT0n1bAxRBRAWpUjzKIX?qid=20070225184808AAI76Sr
Imports/Exports of Costa Rica with $$$ figures? I'm trying to find the top few imports and exports of Costa Rica including the dollar figures of each. I'm able to find some information on imports and exports, but nothing I find breaks down the amounts of each individual export/import. Any ideas? For example, I used the CIA World Fact Book, and it doesn't give this specific information I'm looking for. Thanks for any ideas on where to go.
If socialized health care is a failure, can you explain these rankings? If socialized health care is a failure, can you explain these rankings? If over 60 million people were crammed into the state of Oregon? do you suppose there would be a bit of friction and bumping of elbows? I just looked the UK up on the CIA World Fact Book and the UK's area is slightly less than the area of the State of Oregon and 60,600,000 people live there! How do they do it without strangling each other????
Since Iraq could not have had anything to do with 9./11 who did? The inteligence reports have said (strangely released after Bush invaded) that Iraq could not have had anything to do with it SO which nation did CIA world fact book also says that Saudi Arabia is the birth place of Islam and and the King is the keeper of sacred Islamic temples - We are told that it is Islam who hates America etc Bin Laden is from Saudi Arabia The majority of the high Jackers were from Saudi Arabia Is Saudi a democracy - ? FDI and Labor Rates? I'm trying to find the Foreign Direct Investment and Labor Rates for many countries (including Vietnam/Cambodia). Anybody know of any good places to search for them? I've tried CIA world fact book and world bank.
Which country is richer? Romania or Bulgaria? According to CIA World FAct book Bulgaria`s GDP is 9600 $ and Romania`s 8100$,which means that Bulgaria is richer than Romania! But according to the data from the European Union Bulgaria`s GDP is only $3,480 and that of Romania $4,490. Now which one should I believe?
Can anyone name countries just as diverse as America? The U.S. prides itself on diversity and loves to show its multiethnic and multiculturalism to the rest of the world. However, the U.S. is not the only country in the world that has a diverse population ethnically and culturally. If one looks at Iran, forget politics for a few minutes, ethnically Iran is a diverse place. Persians, Kurds, Turkmen, Arabs, and Aremenians all live in inside Iran but are often overlooked by American media who only tend to focus on the Persians. South Africa is another diverse country despite the shadows of apartheid. The country currently has eleven official languages though most are African, affrikans and English. According to the CIA World Fact book and other books on Sudan, it is one of the most complex country in terms of ethnic groups and cultures. Sudan is home to East Africa, Middle Eastern, Northern Africa and European cultures smashed into a territory a little large than India. Can anyone else name countries that are diverse as well?

USA is in debt, So what? I was reading a page on the CIA world fact book that listed the countries in the most debt. Of course, the US is #1 in the world with the most debt. The country with the most cash available is China. That made me wonder... what exactly does this mean? It seems like at the global scale all of these zeros at the end mean nothing. What does global debt actually mean to the US? It doesn't seem tangible, so I'm not sure what it means exactly. Could this massive amount of debt cripple the country?
If atheism is not a religion, why is there a category for atheist and a separate category for "non-religious"? Religions of the World Statistics: "Christians 33.03% (of which Roman Catholics 17.33%, Protestants 5.8%, Orthodox 3.42%, Anglicans 1.23%), Muslims 20.12%, Hindus 13.34%, Buddhists 5.89%, Sikhs 0.39%, Jews 0.23%, other religions 12.61%, non-religious 12.03%, atheists 2.36% (2004 est.)" -CIA World Fact Book https://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/xx.html#People
Do you think a major war is likely ? China is owed a lot of money by the US - The real estate melt down may be seen as a market correction by some but this will impact China's ability to collect debt from the US and China knows it - China has protected Iran at UN security council meetings from snaction Bush has insisted on a missle defene system in Europe - Russia has resumed it's cold war bomber patorls and fly by's of US air force bases - they are tied to Iran through a series of debts Iran owes to Russia for billion dollar defense contrats - They have had a hard time paying this from time to time There is also an oil pipline from Iran to Russia Look up "CIA world fact book" for a discription of import vs export from Russia Bin Laden has apparently put out a new tape and read the democratic political platform to the American people - and threats - The war in Iraq is a failure troops loss of life and an unstable Iraqi government barely holding on to power through a civil war proped up with US forces - Bush has declared the Iranian elite guard a terrorist orginization - CHARITY G Yes yes you are I am defining "major" as in big players like China Russia etc - Big big so to speak
How has obama affected our overal GDP since he took office? Year GDP (purchasing power parity) (Billion $) 2000 9255 2001 9963 2002 10082 2003 10400 2004 10990 2005 11750 2006 12310 2007 13130 2008 13780 2009 13820 Hmmm, it seems that the GDP took a big hit, right in 2009. that amounts to only about a .002 increase over last year. Each year bush was in office the GDP saw explosive growth. to Truth has a liberal Bias: you cant argue with cold hard facts, no matter what liberal blog you quote from. Do yo think mexico is poor? I personally do not. In my opinion its not, I have done much research and it turns out its not that poor as we may all think (stereotypes) Mexico is considered a Newly Industrialized Country (2nd world) with about the 12th largest economy on earth. In addition, being a Lain American country that’s pretty good. It's also the richest Latin American country, and about 75% of the population lives in any sort of urban area, not a cattle ranch. Yes, Mexico does have a high poverty/crime rate, but also a large middle and rich class. Most of the stereotypes may have come since we were small, because it’s been recent, since around the year 2000, where Mexico has grown tremendously in GDP (per purchasing power parity): Due to the NAFTA agreement. In my defense, yes Mexicans do cross the border a lot, because in comparison its better in the United States. However compared to the rest of the world Mexico is pretty industrialized and efficient. I’m not putting down any country, I would like just to point out Mexico isn’t a third world country. Here’s the link to the CIA World Fact Book on Mexico. https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/mx.html

Why does religion decline in democratic, non-secular countries? I've have been doing research on religion through the CIA world fact book https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/fields/2122.html I have noticed a trend. In democratic non-secular countries or states, religion tends to fade. In non-democratic secular countries or states, religion tends to prosper. In countries or states of free will with high levels of education- e.g. European Union, religion declines significantly. (The Islamic religion is an exception but the benefits of free will are not passed to these communities despite very high levels of education and the majority of households are secular) In countries or states of communisim with high levels of education- e.g. Soviet Union, religion tends to hold even with minor increases/decreases relative to prosperity, affluence or recession. There are more interesting facts but may be deemed offensive so I will not post them. Simply would like some healthy debate.
Why is the Singapore sovereign credit rating so good? The national debt of Singapore is very high. It is 99.2% of GDP according the CIA world fact-book. ( see: https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2186rank.html ). That places it above Greece, Ukraine and many other troubled nations. But S&P give it a credit rating of AAA, which is very good. 'US Braces for Possible Nuke War With NK' What repercussions will the US face? 'US Braces for Possible Nuke War With NK' By Jung Sung-ki Staff Reporter The United States is bracing for a possible nuclear war with North Korea, as well as the regime's possible sudden collapse, according to a Washington-based think tank. In the analysis of an upcoming Defense Department review, the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) said a government team is examining various scenarios, including "regime collapse in North Korea." The report, dated Aug. 27, also suggested that Washington may consider plans to deal with a potential confrontation with the North that involves a nuclear strike. http://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/news/nation/2009/09/120_51553.html ---------------------------- North Korea is perhaps one of the worst examples you could pick - The news that spills out of N Korea is reminiscent of exploitative cults You really need to read some of the things that they write for the "news" to get an idea of who they are .... frankly it is impossible to describe - Here is a link to one of their English news services http://www.kcna.co.jp/index-e.htm BUT They are bordered by the following nations according to the CIA world fact book Geography - note: Field info displayed for all countries in alpha order. strategic location bordering China, South Korea, and Russia; mountainous interior is isolated and sparsely populated https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/kn.html ----------------------------------------- What implications or repercussion ---- might the US face if it lets off a nuclear bomb --- right next door to China and Russia ----? How do you think Russia and China will react if their people get sick or die because of a nuclear blast in N Korea ? Yes N Korea is a strange little nation BUT The US is thinking about a nuclear war "Think tanks" have been the primary force behind all US policy decisions for decades Yes N Korea threatened the US No I do not really care what happens to them But if the US and or its people think they can nuke N Korea without severe and immediate consequences you are beyond hope This is not Japan it is not the 40's You drop a bomb --- and kill Chinese or Russians -- things will clearly begin to unfold at an accelerated rate China prefers N Korea over the debtor nation they see as thieves and slothful idiots China hates you're inferior debt ridden stupid guts --- the Russians feel about the same International politics is more than shouting down some guy a a town hall while wearing a gun on you're hip
So why cant I get a minority scholarship? Why shouldnt I? I am a second-generation Dutch immigrant. The Dutch make up only 1.8% of the American population, and that includes everyone to claim even partial ethnic affiliation. Facts were gathered from the CIA World Fact Book. The way I see it, the Dutch are severely under-represented in the USA. In fact, calling me "white" is an over-generalization, to say nothing of being insensitive and callous to my ethnic heritage. I find the term "white" insulting and ambiguous, dehumanizing in fact. Since my people only make up such a small percentage of the population, and not all of us know English (particularly the new immigrants), why cant I get a scholarship as a minority? Its not like I am sitting on a pile of money like every other "white person". If your skin is white and you arent already rich, you have no chance of succeeding in America. What of the Asian-Americans? What of the Mexican americans? What of all the black americans who chose to come to America now, after slavery? Huh, Ethan? Convenient to forget about them, isnt it? Leave the hard-working Dutch immigrants out in the cold, why dont you. Anna... you think white people have never been denied a job in favor of a minority because the employer was worried about their businesses image in the aftermath of the equal opportunity act? I have been turned down, myself, for jobs in favor of a less qualified black person, on account of skin color alone. DONT EVER SAY that white people are never at the butt end of racism. And I think that "every race is beautiful" is subjectivist crap. People find arbitrary and meaningless excuses to hold more pride in their own race than they do in other races they are not. Pride based on superficialities with no individualistic effort put in are the basis of prejudice. Being supporting of your own race or gender IS prejudice... because you cannot support one more than another without that other being supported less or put on the back burner. Positive prejudice, its called, when its prejudice that is unjustly supportive, at the cost of equality... even if no hatred exists for the alternatives.
What do the trolls have to say about life in Haiti? How often do we see links posted here about incidents in a predominately Muslim country? If I point out that Haiti for example is approximately 99.96% non-Muslim, would it open their eyes a little? This country was created by colonial(non-Muslim) powers in Europe who fought wars with the native peoples(also non-Muslim). Haiti was also witness to the(non-Muslim) slave trade. Haiti is the poorest(non-Muslim) country in the Western Hemisphere, where rape wasn't a criminal offence until 2005. According to the United Nations mission in Haiti, approximately 90% of the prison population(non-Muslim) haven't been sentenced. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7750568.stm HIV/AIDS infection rate in Haiti(non-Muslim) is the highest in the Western Hemisphere. http://projects.publicintegrity.org/aids/report.aspx?aid=814 According to both Wiki and the CIA World Fact book, Haiti is 96% Christian. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haiti#Religion https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/ha.html Fortunately, Muslims are not ignorant enough to associate life in Haiti with the religion of Christianity or stereotype all Christians based on everyday life in Haiti. But how would trolls explain it? Where's the trolls? Do I hear crickets? Hmmm... one answer (after the other dude subtracted his) this may be the easiest best anser you've earned lol.
Whats the difference between Levant Arabs, African Arabs and Gulf Arabs ?when it comes to ethnic and race? When it comes to ethnic and race.. the cia world fact book points out that they are all considered Arabs( note the cia factbook doesn't put low self esteem under consideration) Saudi Arabia : Ethnic groups: Arab 90%, Afro-Asian 10% Jordon : Ethnic groups: Arab 98%, Circassian 1%, Armenian 1% Morocco Ethnic groups: Arab-Berber 99.1%, other 0.7%, Jewish 0.2% Quatar : Ethnic groups: Arab 40%, Indian 18%, Pakistani 18%, Iranian 10%, other 14% Lebanon Ethnic groups: Arab 95%, Armenian 4%, other 1% One was Arabanized earlier than the other. And theyr both semitic anyway, Abarahim (father of the Arabs) came from Al Sham, duh!, so technically , historically, racially, ethinically they are all the same! Whats really the difference ? different accents ? WOW, we should start a race based on that! Did we become like the jews ? we can't define our idenitiy ? LMAO!!!! we weren't kicked out of our places, so we didn't got mix up with other races like the jews have Edit : Abrahim lived in iraq and palestine.

If socializing healthcare is so bad, why are we so far behind? We pay TWICE as much as any other nation. Yet, our infant mortality rate is ranked 46th - roughly on par with the Faroa islands, and Croatia. If it's so bad for the old people, why is the life expectancy so low here? We're ranked 50th -- even below Bosnia and Herzegovina. These FACTS from the CIA World Fact Book. It doesn't appear to a lay person like myself that we are getting our moneys worth. It appears that 50 countries are paying half what we do, yet enjoy better care. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_life_expectancy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_infant_mortality_rate You doubt it? Go read the CIA World Fact Book. Not one person who has attacked the socialized plan has provided any valid answer to the question - why are we so far behind?
Why should I even consider changing? This is not an attack. It is a genuine examination of facts, and a sincere question. A little background... A friend of mine has become a bit insistant that I become a Christian. Because there is no quantifiable evidence of the existence of God, I had to examine the evidence available - I examined Christians. I started with the 2008 American Religious Identification Survey, aka ARIS, conducted by Trinity College. I found a few interesting details... 1. Christians in the US are 2.59% more likely to be divorced than Atheists/Agnostics. That may not seem like much, but then Atheists and Agnostics don't preach marital sanctity. So it appears that Christianity may be harmful to my marriage. Finding all this interesting I went a step further... 2. Comparing the data in the CIA World Fact Book against the statistics found at Nationmaster.com I found that the larger the percentage of a nations population that identifies itself as Christian, the higher the rates of murder, suicide and teen pregnancy. As I would like to avoid all of these issues, I have to give Christianity a black mark here as well. 3. I then got to thinking... In the past I had seen statements regarding the number of Atheist inmates vs. Christian inmates in US prisons. I've never liked how the data was presented (calling an Agnostic or a "No Religion" person an Atheist seem a dishonest evaluation of their beliefs). By comparing data from the Federal Bureau of Prisons (1997 the only year available) against the 2001 ARIS (the closest available report) it seems that any given Christian is 45.93% more likely to go to prison than any given Atheist. I'm not sure what the dynamic is here, but something about being Christian apparently makes one more apt to be a criminal. Another black mark in this review. One might conclude that even Christians don't believe in their doctrine. They certainly cannot truly believe in their God or they would take all his threats of eternal suffering more seriously. I've read them, and if it's all real, those are some vicious threats... which is another discussion. Another statistic from the ARIS is that Christians are 6.6% less likely to have a college degree. Why would I want to bring a belief system into my home that might hinder my children's advancement? Does Christianity offer anything other than the broken marriages, lack of education, criminal and immoral behavior demonstrated by Christians? What possible quantifiable reason would I have for seriously considering changing sides? John 3:16: I suppose you can use the argument that those saying they are Christians are not, but I only used the data in the survey. If someone says they are a Christian I can only take their word for it, whether they are in the pew or the prison. Next, the number of Americans identifying as Christians is 76%, and the Atheist/Agnostic/No Religion group is 15%. Smile: I find it fascinating that Christians identify one another as being authentic or not. Pastor Art: Jesus was unavailable for questioning. Apparently he left the Christians to represent him in his absence. If you are upset with the data, you only have your fellow Christians to blame. As a side note, why does anyone need to lie on these surveys? They are anonymous. You get no credit for identifying one way or another.
Isn't it logical to assume Israel will be the target of nukes should the Taliban succeed in defeating Pakistan? The Taliban have advanced --- Pakistan has been in retreat --- The regions now controlled by the Taliban are less than 100 km from the capitol --- where the nukes and the control of them are Should the nukes fall into the Taliban hands --- Pakistan has no delivery system capable of reaching across the seas they can however destroy Israel forever 10 launches -- or 25 --- One successful hit will end the nation of Israel which is as the CIA world fact book puts it slightly smaller than New Jersey . Although the Taliban have boasted they would hit the White House itself in a move that would amaze the world ..... isn't it much more logical to assume the target will be Israel ? In order to get a bomb nuclear or otherwise from Pakistan to the US requires time ----- Time planning and more time ---- which they will not have once it becomes known that Pakistans capitol has fallen -- Time -- will not be on the side of the Taliban -- India may launch Israel may launch --- Russia may launch -and so might China Not to mention what the US may or may not do ---------------------------------- Once in command of Pakistani nukes --- what choices will they have and how long will they have to make it ? Isn't it logical to assume Israel will be the target of nukes should the Taliban succeed in defeating Pakistans Persian Babe --- That is an important detail --- and no one told me Thanks
Where can I find the life expectancies of the states of Germany? I'm doing a project where I have to compare the life expectancies of Namibia and Germany, and have to make choropleth maps. I've found the life expectancies of the 13 provinces of Namibia (which i need to make the map), but nothing for Germany's states. I've looked around for a while. Any website or book suggestions? I've tried the CIA World Fact Book; there's nothing. And if you are making 2 choropleth maps, and are comparing them, do you have to use the same legend and colors (because then I could color the entire map of Germany one color because it's life expectancy is surely higher than Namibia's) I know not many people will know the answers to my questions, but thank you SO much if you do. Thank you and enjoy your day. Danke sehr! (german for thank you)
What effect will immigration have on feminism? I'll start off by saying this is not supporting feminism nor attacking it, rather an observation. Now even by just taking a look at CIA world fact book it's clear to see that Western countries have a declining birthrate, now of course feminism is not the sole cause but it has played a large part, women putting off having kids due to career, no fault divorce and things of that nature. The countries which tend to have the highest birthrates Arabic countries, South East Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa reject feminism in their culture with females taking on what are considered traditional female roles. This appears to be homemaker (or whatever the equivalent is in those countries) and having a large family. With an increase in immigration that is occuring and will no doubt continue to occur into the future will feminism still be around in another 100-200 years? My theory being that it's simply a numbers game and as the western countries need further immigration a cultural shift will take place away from feminism and towards the immigrants from Arabic countries, South East Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa attitude towards women as it will be considered the more prominant viewpoint since they will be heads of companies, in the government making the laws etc. What do you think?
Christians -What will happen to my friends? Christians, only those who find Jesus Christ and are born again will go to heaven. There is only one way. According to statistics (CIA World Fact Book) in Thailand only 0.7% of people are Christian. Of that number 0.4% are Roman Catholic. So only 0.3% are protestant. So at least 99.3% of the people of Thailand will not go to heaven. However so many of the people of Thailand are wonderful people. Always friendly, smiling and helpful. Such beautiful souls. Seriously, do really believe they will suffer such a fate as being cast out of heaven. This is a serious question. What is the view on this? "Sadly. yes. they've had a choice all their life. and what is hell? it's life without God. which is what they are living right now. so they die, find out that God is real, and they don't get to stick around for the party. that's hell". Doesn't this type of statement sound callous and unloving. Does it make God sound like a loving God.
Why is no one threatening to bring democracy to Saudi Arabia? Hypothetically speaking, what would happen in America if civil war ever broke out? I'm not trying to scare anybody, but what would happen? Around 80% of the country is of white people, the other 20% are not ( by the definition of the CIA world Fact book). Is there a possibility that these people of different lands could and would continue their wars from let's say, Europe? Here, in Canada, although it's not necessarily war, Albanians and Serbians still clash sometimes, over disagreements back in Europe. Is a civil war in America alone, enough to instigate a world war, or is it realistic that different people from different countries could be fighting "unfinished" business in the United States? Is it realistic to say, that the South is very much conservative, as opposed to west? I mean, am I wrong when I state that the USA and Canada are two nations full of immigrants and that business may not be finished or settled from other conflicts and or wars?
Are European "socialists" better capitalists than American capitalists? Are the "socialist" countries of Europe better at capitalism than the United States of America? Hard to believe, maybe? Here are the facts, taken from the CIA World Fact Book, Nominal Gross Domestic Product per capita (person). 1 Liechtenstein $145,734 2007 2 Qatar $141,733 2008 est. 3 Luxembourg $118,538 2008 est. 4 Norway $103,586 2008 est. 5 Ireland $68,574 2008 est. 6 Denmark $67,387 2008 est. 7 Switzerland $64,974 2008 est. 8 Iceland $62,490 2008 est. 9 Kuwait $61,499 2008 est. 10 United Arab Emirates $58,424 2008 est. 11 Sweden $56,703 2008 est. 12 Netherlands $54,640 2008 est. 13 Finland $53,616 2008 est. 14 Austria $52,696 2008 est. 15 Australia $50,887 2008 est. 16 Belgium $47,617 2008 17 United States $47,103 2008 est. Sweden, Universal Health Care. Netherlands, Universal Health Care. Finland, Universal Health Care. Austria, Universal Health Care. Belgium, Universal Health Care. The cost of living in the US is less so maybe they're not, but what do you think? They do produce more wealth per person, and have way more time off work, so what's going on? Sorry Iceland and Switzerland both have Universal Health Care as well. jheat I'm the one who pointed out cost of living in the US is less, I didn't assume anything. Never the less they still produce, far more per person, and work far less.

Obama said in a speech that this is no longer a Christian nation (which is factually untrue) and now he is? kissaszing with Christian groups and churches because come to find out tucc really isn't a Christian church it's Black Liberation Theology and a political front group and he needs to define himself as a Christian. Math: 4 trillion kWh, megawatts, U.S. Electricity consumption? According to the CIA World-Fact Book the U.S. consumes ~4 trillion kWh of electricity each year. I'm trying to understand the 'magnitude' of the move to alternative energy production. I think within a few years projects will break ground capable of producing 1,000 MW (1 GigaWatt) of power. I don't know how to do the math. Am I comparing apples to apples; Is hours (h) infered in MW as in MWh? I don't know. If so, then would this be a correct way to calculate a decimal equivalent comparison of a 1 gigawatt alternative-energy project to total U.S. consumption: 1billion/(4 trillion*1000)=0.00025 (Geeze, I'm hoping that's not right.) Thank you Jacy. I'm going to have to think about that a bit. Essentially, I'd like to understand how many 1 GigaWatt plants does it take to make up total US consumption. P.S., I had a feeling I wasn't comparing apples to apples.
Is China Right With Its One Child Policy? China has been the world’s most populous nation for many centuries. When China took its first post-1949 census in 1953, the population stood at 582 million; by the fifth census in 2000, the population had almost doubled, reaching 1.2 billion. China’s fast-growing population was a major policy matter for its leaders in the mid-twentieth century, so that in the early 1970s, the government implemented a stringent one-child birth-control policy. As a result of that policy, China successfully achieved its goal of a more stable and much-reduced fertility rate; in 1971 women had an average of 5.4 children versus an estimated 1.7 children in 2004. Nevertheless, the population continues to grow, and people want more children. There is also a serious gender imbalance. Census data obtained in 2000 revealed that 119 boys were born for every 100 girls, and among China’s “floating population” (see Migration below) the ratio was as high as 128:100. These situations led Beijing in July 2004 to ban selective abortions of female fetuses. Additionally, life expectancy has soared, and China now has an increasingly aging population; it is projected that 11.8 percent of the population in 2020 will be 65 years of age and older. Based on 2006 estimates, China’s age structure is 0–14 years of age—20.8 percent; 15–64 years—71.4 percent, and 65 years and older—7.7 percent. Estimates made in 2006 indicate a birthrate of nearly 13.3 births per 1,000 and a death rate of 6.9 per 1,000. In 2006 life expectancy at birth was estimated at 74.5 years for women and 70.9 for men, or 72.6 years overall. The infant mortality rate was estimated at 23.1 per 1,000 live births overall (25.9 per 1,000 for females and 20.6 for males). Source: Library of Congress – Federal Research Division Country Profile: China, August 2006 Please don't get into the forced abortion issue. Explain why it is a good or bad plan. And how it differs from the USA where we have a slightly higher birth rate--------what are the reasons. Also, keep in mind, India, which has a population of 1.1 billion has 7 times the birth rate of China and gender selection that is even higher. Source: www.cia.gov world facts book. . I live in China as a transplanted American. People of means regularly circumvent the law by paying the huge fines when they have more then one child. Because the economy has taken off in recent years, more and more people are doing this. This has caused grave concerns with the government and they have started a campaign of ostracizing the rich who do this. NOTE: The government, as indicated above, has outlawed gender selection and what the article does not mention, is access to sonograms for gender reasons has been outlawed. . China of late has said that they will not make any significant changes to the one child policy. .
Atheists, what do you think & feel about the growing Creation Science movement in South Korea? Right now, I’m not going to ask you to read everything from these links below because I realize that would take some time. Anyway, I first found out about this when I came across these articles. http://www.icr.org/article/creation-science-movement-korea/ http://www.icr.org/article/creation-science-korea/ Then I found out about 2 seemingly well known Korean YEC organizations not too long ago 1) Korea Association for Creation Research http://www.tjkacr.or.kr/ 2) Association of Creation Truth (which, according to CreationWiki, is a subdivision of the Korea Association for Creation Research) http://www.hisark.com/ I found out about them when I came across these articles. http://www.creationwiki.org/Korea_Association_for_Creation_Research http://www.creationwiki.org/Association_for_Creation_Truth If that was all, a creation museum is being built in South Korea!!! http://blogs.answersingenesis.org/aroundtheworld/2008/02/03/creation-museum-in-korea/ According to the World Fact Book on the CIA website only 26.3% of the South Korean population claim to be Christians (just click the people section & go down to the religion section) https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/ks.html So what do you think the majority of the population doing then? Sorry, I realize all this might be too much for you too handle. Sorry, I meant to put the word "is" before the word "doing."
Taiwan's U.N. bid legally impossible - Comments? Prior to 1895 Taiwan was a province of China and after WWII to 1949, control of Taiwan was given back to China. (source: cia book of world facts https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/tw.html ) The UN rejected Taiwans bid to become member after they had lost that to China in 1971 when China was given membership and Taiwan expelled. They also lost their bid today in the UN to become a full member. (source: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070918/wl_nm/taiwan_un_dc_2 ) Taiwans biggest trading partner is China accounting for 23% of its exports and 12% of its imports. (source: cia book of world facts) China wants Taiwan back under the "one country, two systems" concept, exactly what is happening in Hong Kong today. They have repeatedly stated that but have not ruled out force altogether. (source: http://www.china.org.cn/english/features/China2004/106446.htm ) Thoughts? Peace Jim . I know people from both countries. I concur, the Taiwanese want to remain independent, however, the Chinese people want Taiwan back. I believe what will happen, as China becomes the dominate economic system, overpower the USA and others, that China and Taiwan will be reunited for each countries best interests. I also believe the Chinese people, in particular, their rulers will see this as the best course. The UN's rejection of Taiwans bid will keep that unification ball rolling even more. Nothing stays static and while unification will not happen now, in the future it will surely happen. .
Is Rush Limbaugh a total Idiot? this is just a short list........LIMBAUGH: "If you have any doubts about the status of American health care, just compare it with that in other industrialized nations." (Told You So, p. 153) REALITY: The United States ranks 19th in life expectancy and 20th in infant mortality among 23 industrialized nations, according to the CIA's 1993 World Fact Book. The U.S. also has the lowest health care satisfaction rate (11 percent) of the 10 largest industrialized nations (Health Affairs, vol. 9, no. 2). LIMBAUGH: Denouncing Jeremy Rifkin of the Beyond Beef campaign as an "ecopest": "Rifkin is bent out of shape because he says the cattle consume enough grain to feed hundreds of millions of people. The reason the cattle are eating the grain is so they can be fattened and slaughtered, after which they will feed people, who need a high protein diet." (Ought To Be, p. 110) REALITY: Sixteen pounds of grain and soy is required to produce one pound of edible food from beef (USDA Economic Research Service). As for needing a "high-protein diet," the World Health Organization and U.S. Department of Agriculture recommend that from 4.5 percent to 6 percent of daily calories come from protein. The amount of calories from protein in rice is 8 percent; in wheat it's 17 percent (USDA Handbook No. 456). LIMBAUGH: "Do you know we have more acreage of forest land in the United States today than we did at the time the constitution was written." (Radio show, 2/18/94) REALITY: In what are now the 50 U.S. states, there were 850 million acres of forest land in the late 1700s vs. only 730 million today (The Bum's Rush, p. 136). Limbaugh's claim also ignores the fact that much of today's forests are single-species tree farms, as opposed to natural old-growth forests which support diverse ecosystems. Brotherhood...and Sisterhood LIMBAUGH: "The videotape of the Rodney King beating played absolutely no role in the conviction of two of the four officers. It was pure emotion that was responsible for the guilty verdict." (Radio show, quoted in FRQ, Summer/93) REALITY: "Jury Foreman Says Video Was Crucial in Convictions", read an accurate Los Angeles Times headline the day after the federal court verdict (4/20/93). LIMBAUGH: "Anytime the illegitimacy rate in black America is raised, Rev. Jackson and other black 'leaders' immediately change the subject." (Ought to Be, p. 225) REALITY: Jesse Jackson has been talking about and against "children having children" in speeches and interviews for decades. So have many other black leaders, especially in the clergy. LIMBAUGH: Praising Strom Thurmond for calling a gay soldier "not normal": "He's not encumbered by being politically correct.... If you want to know what America used to be--and a lot of people wish it still were--then you listen to Strom Thurmond." (TV show, 9/1/93) REALITY: In the America that "used to be," Strom Thurmond was one of the country's strongest voices for racism, running for president in 1948 on the slogan, "Segregation Forever." LIMBAUGH: "There are more American Indians alive today than there were when Columbus arrived or at any other time in history. Does this sound like a record of genocide?" (Told You So, p. 68) REALITY: According to Carl Shaw of the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs, estimates of the pre-Columbus population of what later became the United States range from 5 million to 15 million. Native populations in the late 19th century fell to 250,000, due in part to genocidal policies. Today the U.S.'s Native American population is about 2 million.
Can someone check my calculations? Hey, I just ran some calculations to prove that space habitation is necessary and I got back scary numbers. There are 6,706,993,152 (July 2008 est.) people in the world Source https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/print/xx.html There are 148,940,000.00 sq km of land, same source. That means (Area of land/number of people) will give us land unit per person or .0222066724 sq km of land per person on earth, about 5 acres. (Number of people/area of land) will give us person per land unit 45.03151035 people per sq km of land. At least 1.2 acres of farmland is needed to support a person http://dieoff.org/page40.htm Of course this assumes that all land on earth is farmable, but the CIA fact book mentions that only 10.57% of the earth's land can be farmed. 10% of 5 acres is .5 acres of farm land per person. Falling below the min. amount of farmland. But, I think I made an error. Can you check. I'm doing this for the Dupont essay contest. Thank you so much.
Gap Pulls Clothing Made With Forced Child Labor From ------ China?? How about from one of the largest democracies in the world? India Gap pulls 'child labour' clothing Fashion chain Gap has withdrawn from sale children's clothing allegedly made using forced child labour in India. BBC News, Sunday, 28 October 2007 ================ With all the China bashing going on, we ignore India, which is expanding its military, has a birth rate double the US with 1.1 billion people, a poverty rate that is expanding along with income disparity and a wildly corrupt government along with a society that has periods of instability. source: http://www.cia.gov Look at their world facts book. compare the USA, China, and India side by side. You'll find some interesting comparisons ================ Peace Jim .
Why would God send 91% of China down to Hell for simply not believing in him? I mean if you were to go onto CIA fact book you would realize that 91% of the population is an atheist. Basically it is like Heaven to me and basically any atheist. Anyways I thought God loved all of his children equally? Does God regret giving us a free will? I mean he went crazy in the old testament and killed basically anyone who had an opinion. https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/ch.html
Are we really going to run out of oil? ... If so when? The world has 1.3 Trillion barrels of proven oil reserves. It is estimated that world could hold as much as 700 billion unproven oil reserves. The World consumes 29 Billion barrels a year and oil consumption grows 2.5% a year on average. If the estimates are correct and the world only has 2.5 trillion barrels of oil, with 29 billion barrels consumed a year increasing 2.5% year that leaves us with 82 years of oil. Has ISLAM ALREADY WON? Humanity/civilization may very well go into a permanent regress. Consider the following realities: * Islamic countries have insignificant non-muslim populations ranging from 0-20% maximum (see CIA fact book online). Saudi Arabia for example, one of the largest chunks of real estate in the world, is 100% muslim in its citzenry. There are 51 Islamic countries in the world. * Islamic populations within liberal western countries outbreed non-muslims by a wide margin. * Islamic countries are largely sustained by oil revenue and because of this power can continue to feed the theocratic appartus that so successfully keeps the Muslim populus ignorant. * Western countries have too much translaprency where Islamic countries have none, therefore western countries are easily villified while Islamic countries remain largely above the media fray. Exponetially Higher breeding in non-muslim countries + total control of Muslim countries = Islam domination unless something changes.
kWh per year (365 * 24) and Megawatts. Math & conversions? I'm trying to convert US-yearly-electrical consumption (3.892 trillion kWh [1]), into MegaWatts of plant capacity. I am assuming 100% capacity factor (yes, I know that's impossible). 3.892 trillion kWh /(365*24)= 444,292,237 kiloWatts = 444,292 megawatts That is to say electric plants running at 100% capacity (impossible scenario) producing 444,292 megawatts would meet this demand. Did I do the math and conversions correctly? Thanks! 1. https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/US.html , According to the CIA Wold fact Book, the U.S. consumes 3.892 trillion kWh of electric per year. Good tip BillRuss. I was trying to recall my old physics lessons and -- long story short -- this is the part that I did not know how to set up. "... 1 day/24 hours x 1 year/365 days ..." I still might have asked someone to double check though. :-/
What do you make of this? ? The following is adapted from Dr. Peter Hammond's book: Slavery, Terrorism and Islam: The Historical Roots and Contemporary Threat: Islam is not a religion nor is it a cult. It is a complete system. Islam has religious, legal, political, economic and military components. The religious component is a beard for all the other components. Islamization occurs when there are sufficient Muslims in a country to agitate for their so-called 'religious rights.' When politically correct and culturally diverse societies agree to 'the reasonable' Muslim demands for their 'religious rights,' they also get the other components under the table. Here's how it works (percentages source CIA: The World Fact Book (2007)). As long as the Muslim population remains around 1% of any given country they will be regarded as a peace-loving minority and not as a threat to anyone. In fact, they may be featured in articles and films, stereotyped for their colorful uniqueness: United States -- Muslim 1.0% Australia -- Muslim 1.5% Canada -- Muslim 1.9% China -- Muslim 1%-2% Italy -- Muslim 1.5% Norway -- Muslim 1.8% At 2% and 3% they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs: Denmark -- Muslim 2% Germany -- Muslim 3.7% United Kingdom -- Muslim 2.7% Spain -- Muslim 4% Thailand -- Muslim 4.6% From 5% on they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population. They will push for the introduction of halal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature it on their shelves -- along with threats for failure to comply. ( United States ). France -- Muslim 8% Philippines -- Muslim 5% Sweden -- Muslim 5% Switzerland -- Muslim 4.3% The Netherlands -- Muslim 5.5% Trinidad &Tobago -- Muslim 5.8% At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves under Sharia, the Islamic Law. The ultimate goal of Islam is not to convert the world but to establish Sharia law over the entire world. When Muslims reach 10% of the population, they will increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions ( Paris --car-burnings). Any non-Muslim action that offends Islam will result in uprisings and threats ( Amsterdam - Mohammed cartoons). Guyana -- Muslim 10% India -- Muslim 13.4% Israel -- Muslim 16% Kenya -- Muslim 10% Russia -- Muslim 10-15% After reaching 20% expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings and church and synagogue burning: Ethiopia -- Muslim 32.8% At 40% you will find widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks and ongoing militia warfare: Bosnia -- Muslim 40% Chad -- Muslim 53.1% Lebanon -- Muslim 59.7% From 60% you may expect unfettered persecution of non-believers and other religions, sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon and Jizya, the tax placed on infidels: Albania -- Muslim 70% Malaysia -- Muslim 60.4% Qatar -- Muslim 77.5% Sudan -- Muslim 70% After 80% expect State run ethnic cleansing and genocide: Bangladesh -- Muslim 83% Egypt -- Muslim 90% Gaza -- Muslim 98.7% Indonesia -- Muslim 86.1% Iran -- Muslim 98% Iraq -- Muslim 97% Jordan -- Muslim 92% Morocco -- Muslim 98.7% Pakistan -- Muslim 97% Israel -- Muslim 99% Syria -- Muslim 90% Tajikistan -- Muslim 90% Turkey -- Muslim 99.8% United Arab Emirates -- Muslim 96% 100% will usher in the peace of 'Dar-es-Salaam' -- the Islamic House of Peace -- there's supposed to be peace because everybody is a Muslim: Afghanistan -- Muslim 100% Saudi Arabia -- Muslim 100% Somalia -- Muslim 100% Yemen -- Muslim 99.9% Of course, that's not the case. To satisfy their blood lust, Muslims then start killing each other for a variety of reasons. 'Before I was nine I had learned the basic canon of Arab life. It was me against my brother; me and my brother against our father; my family against my cousins and the clan; the clan against the tribe; and the tribe against the world and all of us against the infidel. – Leon Uris, 'The Haj' It is good to remember that in many, many countries, such as France, the Muslim populations are centered around ghettos based on their ethnicity. Muslims do not integrate into the community at large. Therefore, they exercise more power than their national average would indicate. http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/Read.aspx?GUID=4de15ef9-a76c-4dd4-81e2-75683aeed74d
Mexican Immigrants? 1) Mexican's are descendents of the Spanish. The Spanish came from Spain, which is in Europe. 2) Mexican's speak Spanish, which is a European language. 3) Mexican's are largely Christain. Roman Catholic 76.5%, Protestant 6.3% (Pentecostal 1.4%.) (See reference) So, Mexican's are a threat to our "traditional" American culture? Hmmm, they are descended from Europe, speak a European language, and practice Christianity. Oh no, we'd better run for the hills. What are your thoughts? Reference: (CIA - The World Fact Book. https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/mx.html) Ted E. Bere...you're killin'g m'e he're.
Question about GDP? Per the 2007 Brazil Country Commercial Guide, their GDP was about 700 BILLION US dollars. Per cia.gov world fact book, GDP based on PPP is 1.838 TRILLION (2007 estimate). the 2007 exchange rate is 1.269 trillion. I do not understand the 700 billion and 1.838 trillion differences. Please explain in lay terms. Also, for 2007, the GDP per capita was $9,700 (PPP).
What happens to the world Christian population if you subtract the Catholics? Christianity is considered to be the most widely practiced religion in the world. The Central Intelligence Agency World Fact Book gives the following statistics regarding the religions of the world. "Christians 33.32% (of which Roman Catholics 16.99%, Protestants 5.78%, Orthodox 3.53%, Anglicans 1.25%), Muslims 21.01%, Hindus 13.26%, Buddhists 5.84%, Sikhs 0.35%, Jews 0.23%, Baha'is 0.12%, other religions 11.78%, non-religious 11.77%, atheists 2.32% (2007 est.)" According to the CIA, Christianity is the largest religious denomination in the world. However, Christianity can only be the largest religion in the world if, and only if, Catholics are counted as part of Christianity. Take the Catholics out of the Christian population, and Christianity falls behind Islam, Hinduism, and barely beats out Buddhism. https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/print/xx.html
