Where can I find a site like the world factbook that has information on religions? I'm looking for a site similar to the world factbook or the world bank that takes each country in the world and tells you what percentage of each religion comprise that country (and what percentage are nonreligious, etc). wikipedia is not especially helpful and i need a more reliable source. thanks. for ex, the united states would be like: Christian 90% Jewish 5% blah blah blah...
Why is the USA on the BOTTOM of this CIA world factbook list? https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2187rank.html Is this true? Why are the free countries the BROKEST? This is not justice. Are these countries that look like crap and more backwards than Mexico hoarding the cash. like a=hole Monopoly players
Is there any political bias in the CIA World Factbook? If so, where? Are there any parts of the World Factbook that do not appear to be written from a neutral point of view? (to borrow a phrase from Wikipedia) I understand this question is essentially soliciting opinions, so I would like to hear what you all think about any bias you perceive regarding that source, and why you think it's biased.
Does Canada (or the UK) have an equivlent to the World Factbook or Country Studies? I love the World Factbook and the US Country Studies https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/index.html http://countrystudies.us I would love to work for such a country/regional research publication such as Country Studies... but I am not an American citizen so of course I cannot work for the US Army or CIA. I would only be able to work in Canada or the UK. Is there another publication that I may be able to work for?
Why are many 1st world countries destined to depopulate quickly? https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2127rank.html Asian countries are depopulating quickly and so are many European nations. Their fertility rates aren't even close to two. When factoring in deaths they are bound to lose tons of population. What gives?
What year did the "CIA world factbook" stop listing Taiwan (R.O.C.) as a separate country, and why? Taiwan (Republic Of China) IS an independent nation, regardless of what anyone else says. So when and why did the CIA begin publishing these, um, factual discrepancies? @jeeper_peeper321, thank you for your link but to use a more precise wording, allow me to rephrase: why doesn't the CIA simply give Taiwan its own place in the dropdown list? @jeeper_peeper321, in other words, I do not know how you found that link, but it is not part of the main dropdown list of nations on the CIA world factbook mainpage. Not under T for Taiwan, not under R for R.O.C. Taiwan should be listed there, but is not. Why not?
On the CIA factbook, where would I find a country's GDP? They have a few GDP categories, breaking it down to specifics. Right now, I don't know whether the United State's GDP is under GDP (purchasing power parity) or GDP (official exchange rate). Here's the link to the website: https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/us.html
World Account Balance Rank Order? Care to guess where we fall? https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2187rank.html Pubs care to take some responsibility for this mess? Can't claim "media bias" on that. Official CIA website.
How do you measure the length of a coastline? I'm aware the coastlines are fractal like, so the length in meters would be infinite, however places like the CIA World Factbook list lengths of coastlines. Is there a standard measuring stick people use? Epidavros, the case you present is a fractal with dimensionality of less than 1. So the length is 0. But with all fractals with dimensionality > 1, the length is infinite. In the case of coastlines, all estimates of their fractal dimension is > 1, hence costlines have an infinite length in 1 dimension.
What are the percentages of languages spoken in Argentina? I am aware of the languages spoken in Argentina. Spanish is the official language, and other languages include Italian, English, German, French, and other Native American dialects. Could you direct me to a website that would show the percentage of each language? I tried CIA World Factbook, Country Watch, and even Googled the question. Thank You.
What books/websites talk about Japan's presence in the global economy? I have to write a paper discussing Japan's integration into the global economy, its participation in the global community, and the issues confronting its relations with developed and developing nations? So far I have researched CIA World Factbook and the Economist. We must use scholarly resources (no wiki) Thank you.
What does it mean to have an account decifiency? As of 2008, the Czech Rebulic account deficiency has declined to 3.3% (World Factbook:Czech Republic)......I sort get the gist, but it would be nice to exactly know what the authours mean by this.
what are some domestic and international issues in Romania? I'm doing a project on Romania based on current issues that must include international conflicts (meaning it involves other countries) and domestic issues. I already know the issues (I've looked up the CIA World Factbook, so I don't need anything of that sort), but I'm going to need a few articles that are on the issues in Romania, not just a few sentences describing what it is. Thanks :)
What is a website with almanac type information for continents? I know there is the cia world factbook ( https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/as.html) for countries, and I am looking for something similar except in broader terms like just talking about continents. the link got messed up it's https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/as.html
What would happen to developed countries if birth rates increased to over 35? Would they fall into complete chaos like developing countries across Africa? Is this the primary cause of Africa's violence, food shortages and economic devastation? The correlation cannot be denied, but I would like to hear your thoughts. Source: https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2054rank.html
The world is living on credit... but from who? this is the link to the CIA WORLD FACT BOOK showing the debt in all countries.. isn't it amazing? the richer, the more debt... doesn't make much sense, or does it? top 5 are US, UK, Germany, France and Italy... https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2079rank.html
What types of fruits are grown in Afghanistan? Cia.gov World Factbook listed Afghanistan's agricultural goods as "opium, wheat, fruits, nuts; wool, mutton, sheepskins, lambskins," but is not specific. Anyone know exactly what kinds of fruits (or vegetables) are grown there? Thanks Thanks, but were they red or green grapes?
How long until the nations of Iraq and Iran become strong allies? S. Hussein was a Sunni Muslim, as were his Baath party members, in a country with a Shi'a majority. The U.S. loved that arrangement until Saddam got too big for his dishdashas. Now, many years after the coup, and Bush's "much desired" democracy in Iraq, how long until Shiite Iranian clerics completely control Iraq? https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/iz.html
What is the difference between PPP and GNI? Purchashing power parity and gross national income.. is there a difference? And where can I find the current GNI of a country-- CIA world factbook does not have it on there...
Can someone please help me with my MUN research? I'm new to MUN, and my very first conference is on Saturday so as you have probably guessed I'm really confused. I know that I should keep in mind my country's policies, so I don't make a complete fool of myself, but how do I FIND my country's policies? My country is Indonesia, and my topic is Climate Change. I've trade googling "Indonesia's Policies" and stuff, and checking CIA World Factbook, but I can't find anything? There are so many results, most of which are useless.
Anyone been to Kiribati? How is it pronounced by locals? Dictionaries show 2 ways to pronounce Kiribati. The CIA World Factbook shows it pronounced as "Kee ree bahss." The opinion of the locals is what's important to me! Yes. Math & Science are everywhere. This is under the geography category, tho.
What happens to the world Christian population if you subtract the Catholics? Christianity is considered to be the most widely practiced religion in the world. The Central Intelligence Agency World Fact Book gives the following statistics regarding the religions of the world. "Christians 33.32% (of which Roman Catholics 16.99%, Protestants 5.78%, Orthodox 3.53%, Anglicans 1.25%), Muslims 21.01%, Hindus 13.26%, Buddhists 5.84%, Sikhs 0.35%, Jews 0.23%, Baha'is 0.12%, other religions 11.78%, non-religious 11.77%, atheists 2.32% (2007 est.)" According to the CIA, Christianity is the largest religious denomination in the world. However, Christianity can only be the largest religion in the world if, and only if, Catholics are counted as part of Christianity. Take the Catholics out of the Christian population, and Christianity falls behind Islam, Hinduism, and barely beats out Buddhism. https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/print/xx.html
saudi arabia minister said that there is 7,000,000,000,000 barrel of oil around the world? FROM THE CURRENT SURVEY THERE IS ABOUT 1,000,000,000,000 BARREL OF OIL IN OIL PRODUCING NATIONS. WHEN YOU COMPARE 7,000,000,000,000 AND 1,00,000,000,000 THEN THERE IS A GAP OF 6,000,000,000,000 BARREL OFF OIL ? WHERE IS THIS 6 TRILLION BARREL OF OIL LOCATED? UNDERGROUND HEAT CANNOT ESCAPE BECAUSE IT IS COVERED WITH OIL ABOVE THE WATER. HENCE, HOTSPRINT TAKE PLACE. ANOTHER CLUE IS FROM THE BIBLE? The book examines the map of the tribes of Israel, to discover the location of the oil. While Genesis talks about the "blessings of the deep" for the sons of Joseph or the tribes of Manasseh and Ephraim, another scripture in Deuteronomy says the tribe of Asher will "... dip his foot in oil." 20. "Asher's produce is rich, and he shall furnish dainties for kings. ONCE UPON A TIME, ASHER TRIBE LIVE IN WESTASIA. THIS MEAN IF WE PROGRESS TOWARD EASTASIA THEN INDIA HAS ALL THE 6 TRILLION BARREL OF OIL BURRIED UNDER ITS LAND. BY USING THE STARS IN THE UNIVERSE WE COULD DISCOVERED IT PRECISED LOCATED. ON A SECOND THOUGHT IT COULD BE IN THE INDIAN OCEAN. IF THAT IS THE CASE THEN THE AMERICAN MILITARY BASE IN DIAGO GACIA IS WORTH TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS. ADVERTISEMENT But Minister Ali Naimi said he was "concerned about the (price) level" and suggested Saudi Arabia is ready to raise production if the kingdom perceives that basics have changed, with supply no longer meeting demand. For now, "all our buyers are satisfied and happy," he told reporters on the fringes of the 19th World Petroleum Congress and against a backdrop of soaring oil prices that hit a trading record above $145 a barrel. He suggested his country was ready to put more oil on the market "if there is a buyer." About 20 energy ministers, CEOs of national and international oil companies and other industry leaders are among the more than 3,000 delegates attending the congress, which debated ways of cooling the volatility of energy markets. In the past, production increases have been effective in driving prices down, but the buoyancy of the present market appears to be defying conventional control mechanisms. A recent Saudi pledge to add 200,000 barrels per day as of July to a 300,000 barrel-per-day production increase announced in May did not dent prices, which have continued to spike to new records with increasing frequency. In global electronic trading Thursday, benchmark crude futures for August delivery touched $145.85 a barrel, a trading record. They settled at a closing record $145.29 on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Concern over an unexpectedly large fall in crude stocks in the U.S. -- the world's largest oil consumer -- appeared to be part of the mix driving prices. The U.S. Energy Department's Energy Information Administration said Wednesday that oil supplies fell by 2 million barrels last week, or about 800,000 barrels more than analysts surveyed by the energy research firm Platts had predicted. The development appears to add support to arguments from the U.S. and other major consumers that the market is undersupplied -- something the Saudis and OPEC as a whole deny. U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson restated Washington's view Thursday, telling reporters in London: "There are questions in the short term about the ability to meet the demand." Soaring oil prices risk prolonging the world economic slowdown, he said, adding he saw no "quick fixes" for cooling the crude market. But Naimi cautioned against attaching undue importance to the EIA's weekly snapshot. "Don't take one week's number and use it as a guideline," he said, adding that crude stocks rose by 20 million barrels last month in the 30 industrialized countries in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. "Whatever we are seeing in the international oil market is driven by many factors, the least of which is the concern over the immediate supply." Instead, he listed increased institutional investment, the weak dollar, Middle East tensions, concerns about natural catastrophes and "the fear the world is running out of fossil fuels" as boosting prices. "When you combine all of these and try to figure what the price will do, it will be a difficult task for anybody," he said. Later, addressing the closing plenary of the conference, Naimi acknowledged that out-of-control prices are "creating a crisis of confidence about our energy future." But he downplayed fears they are a sign that the oil era will end soon with no replacement in sight. "There is plenty of recoverable oil left in the ground, perhaps as many as 5 to 7 trillion barrels," he said. "Significant quantities of oil remain undiscovered ... the petroleum industry will find this oil and produce it." Associated Press writer David Stringer contributed to this report from London.
World fact book says atheists make up 4% of the population.? https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/us.html did anyone else think they were alot bigger?it surprised me. this is u.s. only by the way.im searching for world numbers. https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/xx.html on the world scale: Christians 33.32% (of which Roman Catholics 16.99%, Protestants 5.78%, Orthodox 3.53%, Anglicans 1.25%), Muslims 21.01%, Hindus 13.26%, Buddhists 5.84%, Sikhs 0.35%, Jews 0.23%, Baha'is 0.12%, other religions 11.78%, non-religious 11.77%, atheists 2.32% (2007 est.)
Islam has surpassed Roman Catholicism as the world's largest religion! What your take on this? VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - The number of Muslims has overtaken the number of Roman Catholics in the world, a Vatican official said on Sunday. Monsignor Vittorio Formenti, who compiled the Vatican's newly-released 2008 yearbook, said Muslims made up 19.2 percent of the world's population and Catholics 17.4 percent. "For the first time in history we are no longer at the top: the Muslims have overtaken us," Formenti told Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano in an interview, saying the data referred to 2006. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080331/lf_nm_life/vatican_muslims_dc_1 ##It has to be noted that according to the CIA World Factbook, there are 1.5 billion Muslims worldwide. Now, if you were to separate out Sunni's which form 90% of Muslims, you would get almost the same numbers of Catholics and Sunnis.
Do atheists intentionally distort their own importance in the world? I saw an atheist claim yesterday that in Sweeden alone, 85% of the people are atheist. (CIA World Factbook says 87% Lutheran and 0% atheist.) Atheists also frequently claim that China is mostly atheist (despite all the Taoists, Buddhists, Hindus and Confuscionists). Do they count people who are forced into atheism as true atheists? Thomas, your answer is not an answer. Swedes are voluntarily Lutheran, and atheists count them. Chinese are NOT atheist at heart, and atheists count them too. Stevie, I know that 0% is very close to the highest rate worldwide, but it's still just 0%. When given a choice between a credible source (the CIA has no inherent bias) and "adherents.com" that offers no source documents and no description of the organization gathering the information, I have to go with the CIA, whose information is based on each individual nation's official publication of their own stats.

I am confused, how did Jesus's death bring good in the world? I mean think about the circumstances before and after his death and what God knew. God knows 1. everything 2. past 3. present 4. future Jesus's death 1. After death Jewish people blamed 2. antisemtism begins 3. next 2,000 years Jewish people are feverishly persecuted, killed, enslaved, humiliated, etc. 4. Holocaust, (1933-1945) 5. Israel is now a country (1947) 6. Palentinians try to oust Jewish people out of Israel through a series of three wars Facts about Israel https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/is.html brief history of antisemitism http://www.humanitas-international.org/holocaust/antisem.htm So the question here is if God knows everything, including the past, present, and future and he still carried out his plans to sacrifice his son, even though he knew that antisemitism would be the end result would antisemitism? He clearly created a 2,000 year conflict. He knows the past, present, and future. I mean how could he not see that coming? He sees everything, right? Wasn't there a different way to end the conflict instead of killing his son? What good did that bring? Wait his death was a representation of all the sins right? Isn't God the president of the department of judgment? You know the lead judge? Couldn't he just get rid of the policy that all men go to Hell for their sins and are instead forgiven? This isn't making sense? Why did Jesus do something that God could've done? I mean God was perfectly able to get rid of the idea of people going to Hell for the sins in their life. God is all powerful. Why did he need to send his son, wait 33 years for him to preach and then kill him? He created the world in six days. He could've ended the go to Hell policy with a snap of his two fingers. This isn't making any sense. Adun Toridas: True but when Jesus died 90% of antisemitism came from the saints, apostles, chruch leaders, etc. antisemitism was nothing compared to when Jesus died. Nothing.
How can President Obama say the "USA is 1 of the Largest Muslim Countries in the World" ? The CIA World Facts shows otherwise. A) Does 0.6% make the USA the Largest Muslim Country? What kinds of vegetables are grown in Iraq? Cia.gov World Factbook lists iraq's agricultural products as "wheat, barley, rice, vegetables, dates, cotton; cattle, sheep, poultry," but doesn't say what kinds of vegetables they have there. Fruits other than dates would also help. If they grow grapes there, tell me if they're red or green. Thanks
What is the economic structure of Kuwait? ok. is it a free market economy, communist, etc.?????/ I went to the CIA world factbook, but I didnt find an answer.... would appreciate it much if I got a quick answer. ^u^
in future nominal gdp estimates what are the assumptions being made ? many of the lists by the imf, cia factbook, world bank show big increases in European economies but not in places like Canada, India, Australia, Mexico. The gdp decreases this year but next year begins to grow again. and why is the Russian economy growing just as fast as Chinas when its population is decreasing ?
What accounts for the inverse relationship between population & representation in the Senate? between African Americans and Jewish Americans? Statistics: Jewish Americans 1% of Americans, 13% of Senate Seats African Americans 13% of Americans, 1% of Senate Seats 2 Jewish representatives are Republican, 9 are Democrat, Sanders is a declared Socialist and Lieberman is a declared Independent / Neocon. Barack Hussein Obama is of course a Democrat. Source CIA Factbook: https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/us.html I would think both groups of Americans (Jewish and African) would have a relative same level of acceptance among the general population with a majority (perhaps 2/3, maybe more) of Americans accepting candidates of either persuasion. Will African American representation in the US Senate ever catch up to their population? And what role does AIPAC play as far as Jewish representation in the Senate is concerned? This is a serious question - serious answers only. If race isn't a factor in elections, why are seats gerrymandered to insure it?
Why is Israel in a constant state of war and or occupation of other nations ? The gazza strip is outside thier national border Yet they seem to always be at war or occupying the place There seems to be constant war with all of it's nieghbors Are they all insane Arabs or does Israel share some of the blame for this I thought for a while the Gazza strip might belong to Israel but according to the CIA world fact book it does not https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/gz.html
Any good sites for Political Science research? I'm helping someone who has to write a paper comparing a developed country (Bangladesh) to a developing country (UK). Any idea where we can find credible info about these countries and their economies? So far, I have information from the CIA's World Factbook. When I was in college, I used a research database but since I graduated, I no longer have access to these resources. Thanks for you answers, guys!
Is real GDP growth rate better when it is greater? China is 11.9% and is ranked 9th in the world. America is 2% and ranked 188. Which is better? which country most matches these statistics? I'm trying to find a country that has roughly the same area and road length as the Hawaiian island of Oahu. For the record, the statistics are: area: 596.7 sq mi/1,545.4 km² road length: 1,000 miles/1,600 km the CIA world factbook might be a good starting point.
Is the United States in big trouble? https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2187rank.html Look at this list. Look at where China is and look where the United States is. Iraq and Iran seem to be in the black. So is Israel. Economists are saying that the world economy is going to be worse than they thought. Seems they have been wrong about a lot. We have GOT to put our differences aside and think of new ways of doing things or we will end up a third world nation. Your thoughts?
